About the brand

Polli is a sustainable jewellery and clothing label that is designed and made in Byron Bay, Australia.

We design our products to last; through the durability of the materials used and the production processes. Great care and detail has been spent on perfecting these timeless yet modern pieces.

Our design aesthetic is not dictated by trends, we strongly believe “good things take time” as such our range is designed with lots of thought, detail and care.

Polli aims to be an environmentally and socially responsible business. We take great care in our production process.

All Polli jewellery pieces are proudly Australian made. We use fine recycled stainless steel and all our designs are laser cut locally. We then twist, sand, and hand assemble all of the jewellery in house using quality hooks and chains.

Our wooden range is made from Australia Hoop Pine Ply and is sanded, hand painted or digitally printed, laser cut from a local manufacturer and then we hand assemble all the pieces together. We use quality materials that are built to last. All jewellery is packaged and finished in our studio.

Our clothing is hand screen printed in our own designs in Australia and is made is small runs by a local manufacturer.

Our Team

The Polli design studio is based in sunny Byron Bay on the North Coast of Australia. Headed up by designers and directors Brooke Johnston and Sarah Thornton, we also have our Studio Manager Phoebe Breen and Sales Manager Lindsay Pepper. We always have music playing in our studio, good laughs and share quality food. Our #pollilunches are a hit every Friday where we sit down to have a meal together.

We have a common love of interiors, plants, good wholesome food and of course all things design! The Polli Studio is a busy place, and we all get involved to get the jobs done and products out to our valued customers. We are a small dedicated team, who is passionate about what we do.

History

Polli was founded in 2002 by Sydney based designers Tess Lloyd & Maja Rose. Polli is known for its stainless steel jewellery, which they have been making for over 10 years, producing hundreds of signature designs.

Over time the range evolved and introduced a timber collection exploring different painted, printed and screen printed finishes. In more recent years homewares, clothing and accessories have also been introduced, growing the Polli brand to what it is today.

Polli was born from Tess and Maja’s strong interests in sustainable design, craft culture and fashion. The products were influenced by Japanese and Danish paper designs, nature, vintage treasures and architecture.

In July 2014, Polli introduced new directors Brooke Johnston and Sarah Thornton who took over the current designing and direction of Polli.

With a common love and vision for the Polli brand, they’re proud to keep the brand alive and look forward to maintaining its high quality, ethical standards and keeping it all Australian made.

Brooke comes from a background of jewellery design and trade. Sarah comes from a background of fashion design and production. Together they’ve designed and manufactured their own products; run events, and ran a bricks and mortar store. As they are both designers, they have a strong understanding on good design, quality and craftsmanship. This, combined with years of working with the Australian design community, means they have a great knowledge of current trends in both design and new technology.
