Well done to the 10 people who found the correct number of Easter Eggs on our site, there were 12 eggs hiding. We used to choose and winner and Sarah now has $100 to spend on our online store. Thanks to everyone who took part.

Sunday Pancakes

Sundays seem to be friends with pancakes and pancakes definately like Sundays. Whether you like your pan fried friends with lemon and sugar, cooked banana or dripping in maple syrup we think you'll enjoy Stephanie Alexander's recipe. These are the crepe-like thin variety which lets face it, means there's room in your belly for more!

250g plain flour
60g butter
pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups of milk
3 happy eggs

Put the flour into a large bowl and make a well in the middle. In a small pan warm the butter, salt and milk until the butter has melted. Break the eggs into the well and work in some of the flour. Add the warm milk mixture adn whisk until smooth. Refridgerate for 2 hours or overnight. If the mix is thicker than cream then add more milk. Heat your fry pan and wipe with a piece of butter. Lift the pan from the heat and add the pancake mix one ladle at a time. Return the pan to the heat and after 1min of cooking time flip it good. Remember the first pancake often isn't your best!

Bread & Circus

Today we treated ourselves to another great eatery in Alexandria - Bread&Circus Wholefood Canteen. Set behind Don Campos (perfect for a fast coffee and sweet treat) Bread&Circus offer a little oasis in the otherwise Industrial block. With colourful deck chairs, large communal tables, beautiful Bison plates, toy boxes and harvest style center pieces you feel like you've been welcomed into someone's home. Our neighbour, welcomed us to share the large table and offered to us a glass of his wine before chatting away. The style of cooking, as the name suggests, is all wholefoods, fresh and mostly vegetarian. There's a great selection of salads which you can mix and match on different sized plates and reminded us of our own Polli lunches. The kitchen is central and open to the space as are the large sacks of quinoa and tubs of hazelnuts, showing the purity of the ingredients.

Today we enjoyed salads including lazy baked eggplant w/ coriander lemony puy lentil biodynamic yoghurt; honey & rosemary glazed baby carrot tossed w/ kamut couscous and blanched green bean & black sesame broccoli in a chilli-ginger-garlic paste. Oh and delicious Infinity Bread and hand squeezed juice. Hungry yet?

African Fabrics

We find tradtional patterns so inspiring and are in love with African textiles at the moment. We’re particularly enamoured with the way Vlisco has transformed them into these incredible outfits. We might look a little wild in urban Stanmore but it’s a risk we’re willing to take!

Oh! Hello Geelong - Blog

When two friends Laura and Penny found themselves living in Melbourne's Geelong they set put their creative heads together and started the blog Oh! Hello Geelong.

The girls have great taste and a really cute illustration style and set about posting about different retailers and possibly beautiful homes of the area. Recently they posted about one of our lovely and long term stockists - Goose. We love the thought and detail that went into their story about Goose but also their gorgeous photos.

When we saw this recipe on Smitten Kitchen for red wine chocolate cake we knew we had to try it. We really owed it to ourselves to give it a go. It combines two such important ingredients from the very top of the food triangle - chocolate and red wine, together at last! The red wine was a really subtle mystery ingredient, it gave you Christmas warm fuzzies like you get from fruit cake. Delicious. Thanks Hannah xx
