We're big fans of Paper Runway, a real artful magazine all about paper. So we're excited to be supporting their Paper Festival - The Paper Trail - this month in Byron. In the fold are over 35 paper creatives with exhibitions and workshops at Art Park. Activities include paper making, book binding, zine making, lino printing, stamping and special workshops just for kids. The latest issue of Paper Runway just arrived in our studio, grab a copy for all the details.

With Mother's Day coming up on Sunday we thought we'd share some of our memories and favourite things about our mums with you.

Maja loves so many things about her mum Pia, pictured above rugged up in the snow, possibly the best thing being that she's always there for Maja with love and support. Maja said she just hopes she can be as good a mum for Jasper her son. Pia lovingly hand stitches all of our hand woven collection.

Claudia loves her mum Julie because she makes her smile everyday. Check out that gorgeous smile!

Sherri loves her mum Sena Rose, what a team! We love Sena Rose's amazing beach hair in this early shot from Laguna Beach USA.

Anna loves her mum Ro because she is a fearless, amazing woman! She's so proud of all her achievements in sports, adventure, architecture and art. Plus she makes a mean breakfast of French toast.

Therese loves her mum Julie as she's the best girlfriend that any daughter could ever ask for. And she can cook a mean caramel slice which we've all sampled in the studio - yum!

Hannah loves her mum Cheryl because she's the most selfless and caring person she knows... and it helps she's a great cook! We've got to agree, Cheryl has helped all of us with our babies!

Tess loves her mum Ro (despite this bad haircut) because she encourges, supports her and loves her, always. Ro is often in the Polli studio, helping to pack up tradeshows and hanging beautiful paintings on our walls.

Kate loves her mum, Marina, even more all the way from NYC. Amazing to see the origins of Kate's amazing fringe from this sweet portrait.

Lunar Store - Prahran

We are so excited to be stocking Lunar Store in Prahran. Lunar is a lifestyle design store that currently houses labels such as Arabella Ramsay, Mad Love, Not Tuesday, Pigeonhole, Lomo, Wendy June, Baggu and a bunch of others.

We've been collecting Baggu shopping bags from trips to the states for years. These reusable totes are light weight and can be rolled into a matching little pocket to store in the bottom of your handbag. Best of all they have great patterns and colours and they're now available in Australia.

White Rabbit Gallery

Fridays are a special day at Polli, a day for adventuring and exploring. It's fitting then that one recent Friday we hopped down to White Rabbit gallery in Chippendale, one of our local favourites, to check out their latest exhibition: Down the Rabbit Hole.

For those of you who haven't yet been, White Rabbit is an amazing art space. A converted former knitting factory near Central Station houses Kerr and Judith Neilson's expansive private collection of contemporary Chinese art (created from 2000 onwards). It is one of the world's largest collections and is generously open to the public Thursday to Sunday.

We are huge fans of Alice in Wonderland so the title of this exhibition conjured up some strong expectations - and it didn't disappoint. Here ordinary objects are transformed into something else entirely. Copper pipes and a referigeration mechanism create ice to become a sculptured heart, very much 'alive'; fluorescent light tubes hanging in a dark room move in rhythm like the surface of water; neon coloured threads are painstakingly loomed in simple geometric patterns that come alive with beauty and colour; and for a little humour, an ATM machine takes deep breaths at the entrance of the gallery.

Ok, so you read our blog therefore you know that we've got a little bit of a sweet tooth, so it's no surprise that we'd follow the delicious blog Dessert Girl! The lady behind this site is the lovely Erin who posts about all things sweet. Recently we created a recipe for Dessert Girl (by 'we' I mean Hannah) Passionfruit Lamingtons with Curd and Cream. As Hannah is a strict vegetarian she's improvised and created her own vegan jelly using agar-agar.

Sunday Pancakes

Sundays seem to be friends with pancakes and pancakes definately like Sundays. Whether you like your pan fried friends with lemon and sugar, cooked banana or dripping in maple syrup we think you'll enjoy Stephanie Alexander's recipe. These are the crepe-like thin variety which lets face it, means there's room in your belly for more!

250g plain flour
60g butter
pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups of milk
3 happy eggs

Put the flour into a large bowl and make a well in the middle. In a small pan warm the butter, salt and milk until the butter has melted. Break the eggs into the well and work in some of the flour. Add the warm milk mixture adn whisk until smooth. Refridgerate for 2 hours or overnight. If the mix is thicker than cream then add more milk. Heat your fry pan and wipe with a piece of butter. Lift the pan from the heat and add the pancake mix one ladle at a time. Return the pan to the heat and after 1min of cooking time flip it good. Remember the first pancake often isn't your best!

Bread & Circus

Today we treated ourselves to another great eatery in Alexandria - Bread&Circus Wholefood Canteen. Set behind Don Campos (perfect for a fast coffee and sweet treat) Bread&Circus offer a little oasis in the otherwise Industrial block. With colourful deck chairs, large communal tables, beautiful Bison plates, toy boxes and harvest style center pieces you feel like you've been welcomed into someone's home. Our neighbour, welcomed us to share the large table and offered to us a glass of his wine before chatting away. The style of cooking, as the name suggests, is all wholefoods, fresh and mostly vegetarian. There's a great selection of salads which you can mix and match on different sized plates and reminded us of our own Polli lunches. The kitchen is central and open to the space as are the large sacks of quinoa and tubs of hazelnuts, showing the purity of the ingredients.

Today we enjoyed salads including lazy baked eggplant w/ coriander lemony puy lentil biodynamic yoghurt; honey & rosemary glazed baby carrot tossed w/ kamut couscous and blanched green bean & black sesame broccoli in a chilli-ginger-garlic paste. Oh and delicious Infinity Bread and hand squeezed juice. Hungry yet?

We find tradtional patterns so inspiring and are in love with African textiles at the moment. We’re particularly enamoured with the way Vlisco has transformed them into these incredible outfits. We might look a little wild in urban Stanmore but it’s a risk we’re willing to take!

When two friends Laura and Penny found themselves living in Melbourne's Geelong they set put their creative heads together and started the blog Oh! Hello Geelong.

The girls have great taste and a really cute illustration style and set about posting about different retailers and possibly beautiful homes of the area. Recently they posted about one of our lovely and long term stockists - Goose. We love the thought and detail that went into their story about Goose but also their gorgeous photos.

Red Wine Chocolate Cake

When we saw this recipe on Smitten Kitchen for red wine chocolate cake we knew we had to try it. We really owed it to ourselves to give it a go. It combines two such important ingredients from the very top of the food triangle - chocolate and red wine, together at last! The red wine was a really subtle mystery ingredient, it gave you Christmas warm fuzzies like you get from fruit cake. Delicious. Thanks Hannah xx

As children we loved listening to Roald Dahl’s Fantatsic Mr Fox, so much that we were inspired to create Mrs Fox, now available in a wood – doesn’t she look snug?

With a flock of kids between us we are keen on well written and beautifully illustrated childrens books. We love the quirky illustrations of Oliver Jeffers, his stories are fantastical and we find ourselves completely immersed in the worlds and characters he creates.

We are proud to be sponsors of The Sydney Writers Festival and they are hosting a workshop with Oliver Jeffers, a perfect activity for the budding illustrator in your life.
